Trump's Business Attempted to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business accelerated its recruitment of foreign workers on temporary visas this period, while his administration was placing obstacles for other companies attempting to do the identical, a report released Thursday stated.

Based on data from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to bring in at least 184 foreign workers in 2025 for short-term roles at the US president’s Florida property, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The number of applications for temporary work visas for workers including servers, clerks, cleaning staff, kitchen staff and agricultural laborers was the record submitted by the organization, and up from 121 in the previous term, when his presidency concluded.

It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that Trump had sought to hire more than 100 overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, according to labor statistics.

The disclosure comes amid a crackdown on immigration laws by his administration that has involved the implementation of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the activities of the 55 million people who possess US visas; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and reporters.

In total, the Trump Organization aimed to hire over 560 overseas workers over the period Trump has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during the upcoming year.

Notably, the former president was criticized by some in the GOP this week for comments defending the necessity for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to occupy particular roles.

“You can’t just say a nation is coming in, going to invest billions to construct a facility, and going to take people off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that well,” he stated to a host after she suggested that foreign workers undercut the wages of American employees.

The administration declined a request for response, and the business did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
