The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events of the year due to a health issue she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to regain her health prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering again next season.

She had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

She was also playing far from freely in the third set versus Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally after more than three years since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

She held three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

Raducanu won 28 victories in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions late this year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
