An aircraft carrying the US defense secretary was required to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday due to a fissure was discovered in the jet's front window, according to an announcement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.

"The plane landed in accordance with standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, among them Secretary Hegseth, is secure," an official representative said in a social media post.

Hegseth was returning from a short visit to Brussels at the time.

This occurrence is not the first time that a American defense plane carrying a senior official has experienced technical problems.
