The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive year.

The 27-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Year of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Statistics

Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in prize money.

She garnered nearly 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
