"Countless of people are stopping, or avoiding tobacco usage due to tobacco control measures by countries around the world," he commented.
"As a reaction to this strong progress, the tobacco sector is pushing back with new nicotine devices, forcefully targeting youth. Authorities must act faster and more vigorously in applying established tobacco-control policies," he continued.
The vaping figures are a projection since several nations - 109 in all, and many in African and South-East Asia - fail to collect data.
Per the report, as of recent February this period, at minimum 86 million e-cigarette individuals were adults, primarily in developed countries.
And at minimum 15 million youth between the ages of 13 and 15 already use e-cigarettes, per surveys from 123 nations.
While numerous countries have attempted to establish e-cigarette rules to tackle underage vaping in recent years, by the end of 2024, 62 countries even now had no measure in place, and 74 states had no age restriction at which e-cigarettes can be acquired, says the health organization.
